AFSA Collaboration has been honoured with the ‘Major Scientific Collaboration’ award at LUSH Prize 2026

The Animal-Free Safety Assessment (AFSA) Collaboration has been recognized at the Lush Prize Awards 2026 for its leadership in advancing animal-free methods to product safety testing.

This award highlights AFSA’s commitment to driving the transition towards animal-free science through the development of practical tools and collaborative initiatives. By bringing together experts across disciplines, AFSA is accelerating the uptake of non-animal methods that are more relevant to human health and environmental protection.

Collaboration is at the heart of AFSA’s work. Through initiatives such as the Master Class on Animal-Free Cosmetic and Chemical Ingredient Safety Assessment and the recent Decision Trees project, AFSA equips scientists with the knowledge and frameworks needed to prioritise animal-free methods from the outset. Alongside this, AFSA continues to raise awareness of the scientific limitations of animal testing, advocating for more reliable, human-relevant approaches.

Jay Ingram and Giorgia Pallocca from Humane World for Animals, were in London, UK to accept the award on behalf of all AFSA partner organizations.

“Achieving this award is a huge honour. AFSA represents more than twenty organisations and collaborators, all of whom are deeply committed to creating a better future for everyone. This award is significant motivation to keep progressing in our mission, and we are grateful to the Lush Prize for recognising the importance, urgency, and success of our work.”

We thank all of our partners for their support and commitment, and look forward to continuing our collaborative work to progress animal-free science.
