VACCINE GLOBAL REGULATORY ALIGNMENT

Removing and replacing obsolete animal tests from vaccine regulation

Today, strict quality control standards for vaccine production can fully replace animal testing for ensuring batch-to-batch consistency. However, some countries continue to regard animal-based batch-release testing as a gold standard, leading to the continued use of up to 15 million animals each year. We’re working to bring stakeholders together to overcome economic, technical, regulatory and other barriers to the removal or waiving of obsolete animal testing requirements from human and veterinary vaccine regulatory frameworks globally.
